Countdown

Kissojen rabies vasta-aineet olivat riittävät. Lähtölaskenta on siis alkanut. Mikä muu olisikaan parempi syy juhlaan :)

Birthday party

Juhlistimme ystävän kolmekymppisiä hyvässä seurassa.

Special guests

Tänään meillä kävi oikein erityisiä ja odotettuja vieraita Australiasta asti ja he toivat auringon mukanaan. Tytöt olivat odotetusti kasvaneet hurjasti kolmen vuoden jälkeen, mutta silti tuntui kuin aikaa olisi kulunut vain hetki. Nauruhermot saivat kutkutusta yllinkyllin, ja jokaiselle jäi varmasti hyvä mieli päivän päätteeksi.

Today we had special friends over all the way from Australia and they brought sunshine along. Girls had grown up wildly (as expected), but after three years it still felt like yesterday the last time we saw each other. Lots of giggling during the day and in the end of the day we said our goodbyes with tons of warm feeling inside.

Nourishment for the heart and soul

Eilinen päivä vietettiin ystävien kanssa merellä. Ensin veneillen ja sitten saaressa syöden ja hengaillen. Paras päivä pitkään aikaan, ei voi muuta sanoa. Hengenravinnon määrää ei voi sanoin kuvailla. Tällaisissa maisemissa sielu lepää ja meri-iman hengittämisellä on joku kummallinen parantava voima. Ihan niinkuin metsälläkin.

Yesterday our friends took us to the sea and we had a blast. Best time we've had for a while, to put it in few words. There's just no way to describe what one can get from days like these. It's food for the soul and breathing the fresh ocean air just has a healing power. Just like walking in the forest does.

Midsummer festival

Tarkoitus oli olla juhannuksena töissä, mutta ranteen loukkaaminen sotki ne suunnitelmat. Päädyin viettämään juhannusta osittain yksikseni ja ihan kaupungissa. Perjantain pelasti kaunis ja lämmin sää ja lauantaina vietin päivän ihanan kummitttöni yhtä ihanan perheen seurassa. Tällaiselta näytti siis juhannusaatto Espoossa.


Last weekend all proper finns headed to their summer cottages with family and friends to spend the midsummer festival and enjoy the nightless night when sun doesn't set at all. I was supposed to be working but hurting my wrist meant change of plans. I ended up spending the weekend in the city (so to say), and mostly on my own. My friday was saved by beautiful, warm weather and on saturday I was blessed to spend time with my goddaughter and her awsome family.

Artic circle

Kävin pitkästä aikaa Rovaniemellä tapaamassa ystäviä. Opiskelin siellä aikanaan, ja vaikka opiskeluvuodet ovat jääneet taakse kauan sitten, ystävät ovat ja pysyvät - välimatkasta huolimatta. Ruuhkavuosia kun niin sanotusti elämme, yhteydenpito on jäänyt vähemmälle. Mielessä silti on usein, ja jälleennäkeminen on aina yhtä riemukasta ja tuntuu, kuin edellisestä kerrasta olisi vain hetki aikaa. Joulupukkiakin kävin morjestamassa.

A couple of weeks ago I travelled to Rovaniemi to see my friends I met when I was studying there. It was so much fun seeing them and it felt like yesterday we were students - wild and free with no bigger obligations. Of course I had to see Santa as well :)

Home

Piipahdus kotipuolessa hääkuvausten aikaan tallensi puhelimeen kesäisiä kuvia. Sen jälkeen, kun muutin pääkaupunkiseudulle (6 vuotta sitten), jaksan joka kerta maalle mennessäni huokaista, vetää keuhkot täyteen puhdasta ilmaa ja kuunnella hiljaisuutta. Jotenkin sitä akut latautuu parissakin päivässä. Kohta sinne pääsee taas, kun loma koittaa.

When shooting the wedding, I visited home as well. After I moved near Helsinki, I've been missing the beauty and silence of the countryside. Everytime I return back there, it amazes me. I think I've learned to appriciate it more now, when I don't live there anymore. Although I enjoyed it back then as much. Soon I'll be there again for summer holidays.
